Setsubun

Setsubun is the name given to the eve of the first day of spring. In the modern calendar, it is on February 3.

On the day, in households across Japan, peoples throw roasted soybeans inside and outside the house while shouting “Demons out! Luck in! (Oni wa soto! Fuku wa uchi!)” And one parent puts on a oni mask to scare the kids. Kids throw beans at them to scare them away.
